Countryside Inn
This in is at 501 East Fair St. in the middle of town, and it’s a pretty little spot conveniently located for getting around and taking part in everything our city has to offer. It’s clean and safe but also a budget place that won’t break the bank to book. Rooms here are very quiet, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. We would recommend that you check over your room to make sure it’s as clean as you like and ask them to bring in housekeeping if you’re not satisfied. They definitely can make things great: they just sometimes need a reminder to check up, and they will be happy to do so.
This place is very conveniently located to a lot of great food. There’s a Whataburger right across the street, the Tasty Gator on S Washington St, and the delicious and authentic Carrera’s Mexican Grill. You might also head over to Wings Over Kaufman for amazing drinks, burgers, and, of course, wings. If you enjoy a few drinks, please do so responsibly and never drink and drive.
Waterfront Lodge
If you want a place that’s off the beaten path, consider this lodge, which has great cabins right on the lake. You’ll find them at 1109 Waterfront Ln. in Kemp, and when you want to get a great meal, you want to drive up to Kaufman. When you want something fun to do, the Whatz-Up Family Fun Park and the Big Daddy’s Flea Market are very close by.
These are great little cabins that have a variety of bed arrangements to accommodate different-sized groups. They all have dining facilities, air-conditioning, and bathrooms. Outside your cabin, you will find grills, picnic tables, and over 200 feet of waterfront for swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, kayaking, and more. This is a really great spot to get away from it all.
Best Western La Hacienda Inn
If you want to be right in the center of town and have a reliable experience, this is probably the best hotel to choose. It’s at 200 East Highway 175 and just four miles from Kaufman Lake if you want to do some fishing or boating. The hotel has a hot tub, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, free breakfast, and is both kid-friendly and pet-friendly.
The prices here are excellent and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is a safe spot where you can really enjoy your stay. The hotel is a little on the old side, however, so you may find that the beds are not the most comfortable you’ve ever stayed in. For a lot of people, though, this doesn’t matter given the great location and excellent price. It’s really up to you what you prioritize most!
