2022 Chevrolet Suburban

The entry-level Suburban LS comes with LED headlights and 18-inch wheels while stepping up to the LT adds to this with a hands-free liftgate. The sporty RST adds 22-inch wheels, black exterior trim elements, and an upgraded front fascia. The off-road capable Z71 has all-terrain tires for its 21-inch wheels and a front fascia designed to provide more ground clearance. The Premier comes with magnetically controlled shocks, a panoramic sunroof, and an integrated washer for the rear camera mirror. Stepping up to the top-level High Country gets you a redesigned grille with bronze accents.

The standard powertrain for the Suburban is a 5.3-liter V-8 gas engine with 355 horsepower. It uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with rear-wheel drive. A 6.2-liter V-8 is optional for the RST, Z71, and Premier and standard for the High Country. It generates 420 horsepower. The diesel option is a 3.0-liter turbo with 277 horsepower.

In spite of its size, the Suburban is easy to drive. It has a responsive steering system and strong brakes to give the driver confidence behind the wheel. When equipped, it can tow up to 8,300 pounds.

There's room for eight in the Suburban with the standard configuration, but changing this can increase it to nine or reduce it to seven. Cloth upholstery comes standard, while leather adorns the higher trims, which also add features such as heated and ventilated seats, power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power-folding third row. The technology in the Suburban starts with an 8-inch touch screen, six-speaker stereo system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging comes in the LT, which also gets a 10.2-inch touch screen and the upgraded infotainment system with Google Assistant and built-in maps. The Premier adds a 10-speaker Bose stereo system, the High Country adds a head-up display, and a rear entertainment system is available as an option for any of the trim levels.

Every Suburban comes standard with advanced safety systems. These include lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. All models also have front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beam headlights, a rear-seat alert, and the Teen Driver system, which allows primary drivers to set limits. A blind-spot monitor comes with the Premier and above and works alongside rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera is an added safety feature you get with the High County. Depending on the trim, and you can also add a traffic-adaptive cruise control system.
